Weekly Photo Challenge: Wonder

When we flew over Mt. McKinley a few years ago, the pilot tipped the wings and told us a few facts about this majestic mountain.  He pointed out the base camp and one of the routes to the peak. I am in awe of anyone who can accomplish this feat in the cold, the fog, the blinding snow. This shot was taken in July. Can you imagine what climbing conditions would be like otherwise? I wonder . . .

Quote of the Day for YOU: Every kid starts out as a natural-born scientist, and then we beat it out of them. A few trickle through the system with their wonder and enthusiasm for science intact.       ~Carl Sagan

  2. I love that quote from Sagan. Your picture is amazing – never seen McKinley. We live in the shadow of Mt. Rainier and it dwarfs Seattle. I can’t image this mountain.
