Dapper G, a Boat Ride, and the Evening Sky–Oh My!

9th Street Bridge

Sandwiched between our birth dates, Sunday proved to be beautiful with summer-like temperatures.

With the moon rising in the east and the sun setting in the west, the evening promised a lovely boat ride and alarmingly beautiful skies.

While Dapper G was rigging his fishing rods for striped bass, I was trying to keep my hands steady with the point-and-shoot–much to my chagrin.

I was trying to block out the drone of engine noise lining the causeway after a weekend of holiday festivities. The cormorants, seagulls, and heron tried to appease me with their call to roost by squawking overhead.

                    It worked.

After a while, I found contentment listening to the plopping sounds of the lure sinking into the water knowing that the point-and shoot couldn’t handle the dwindling light.

But Dapper G, having spied the bright lights, sped between the meadows so I could snap the paddle boat passing. I could hear the music and the laughter, and some distinguishable words. the lights reflecting bright colors in its wake. The boat floated by and we sat quietly, the jollity pleasantly interrupting our solitude. The loud voices now muffled like memories as the boat drifted down the bay.

  1. It looks and sounds like a wonder-filled evening. 🙂

A tip on steadying a P&S camera: Use the action mode, if it has one. It seems to accommodate camera shake better.
