Sultry St. Martin Silhouette

Labor Day labor: Going to do some much-needed yard work today even though it’s very soupy. Filling in an area with mulch where I removed some sod–I’m on a quest to have less lawn and more vegetables. My percentage of lawn to garden is probably 70 to 30. I read an article in one of my many gardening magazines where a woman removed all of her grass and has huge, sweeping areas of paths and perennials–it was gorgeous. While I do have hundreds of perennials, I think growing more vegetables that would sustain us through summer and winter would be ideal. What is your sustainability factor? What are you doing this Labor Day?

p.s. Most of the tourists have gone home. Listen to the quiet . . .

Silhouette Serenade Song Lyrics by Vendetta Red

The last thing I wanna do right now
is read your stupid poetry.
Why can’t you just tell me what you really wanna say?
You’d clear your conscience
with words so weak and empty,
but something in your eyes gave you away.

And I’ve been lonely
like a silhouette, or a serenade.
A heart attack, or a man betrayed.
The arms of love are holding me
like a silhouette, or a serenade.

Is this all you have to say?
This broken boy will hang on every word.
You tell me that you need me,
while I slowly fall apart.
You’d heal your heartache
with words so cool and callous,
but the absence of your tears gave you away.

And I’ve been lonely
like a silhouette, or a serenade.
A heart attack, or a man betrayed.
The arms of love are holding me
like a silhouette, or a serenade.

And all pretty poems have to end,
so I say this before I leave.
If words are your weapons my dear, I surrender.

Silhouette, or a serenade.
A heart attack, or a man betrayed.
The arms of love are holding me to you.

  1. I love that shot in silhouette Terri! Fantastic…. I am relaxing at home as I ventured out yesterday… It’s an easy humid day for me here.
    Send us some sun. 🙂

  2. We live on two acres and our vegtable garden area is a small footprint in comparison. I have long term plans for a meandering perennial garden mixed with edibles. Happy Labor Day..enJOY!

  3. Lovely photo – timeless.
Yard work for today. Even though it is labor – it reminds me of the change in seasons and a time for everything. Good luck with the new garden bed.
