What Hurts You Can Only Make You Stronger

My boot camp training this morning: Each exercise for 40 seconds, 4 reps with 10-20 seconds recovery & sips of water in between.

  • 5-minute run or jog
  •  Jump Rope
  • Spiderman Push-ups
  • 15 lb. Overhead Hyper-Extensions
  • 12lb Weight Ball Extension and Squat
  • Sprint between cones
  • 15lb or 20lb Kettleball Swings
  • 8lb. Weight Ball Throw and Run
  • Kettleball Raises extending to chin on your toes
  • 5 minutes of non-stop Ab exercises 40 seconds each

This is a typical boot camp hour for me. My trainer, Carrie, knows us all by name and she is not afraid to use it in various ways and tones of voice . . . often! There are women of all ages in the group–and they are all fit! Believe it or not, I feel energized afterward! Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? Commit to be fit.

  1. Teresita! I love it. Your trainer, Carrie, is spot on! Not that you needed clarification, but “interval training,” “muscle confusion,” whatever you want to call it…that’s exactly what you should be doing if you want to lose weight, tone up, and improve your cardiovascular health. No wonder you’re blood pressure is droppin’!!! Way to go 🙂

  2. That’s a workout…I suspect you’re already stronger. Sorry, I’m done with no pain, no gain exercise. Still, I’m committed to fitness. 🙂

    • Oops, Petals. I meant, I need to get athletic, of course. As I re-read my comment, I realized that it could be read as meaning you need to get athletic. See, there is a reason we have to use the pronoun even when blogging, otherwise it can lead to some misunderstandings. 😉

  3. Inspirational stuff Petal. I must abide, because my workout regimen has become quite ragged as of late. No running last week on account of a sore heel, and I’m guessing the vodka martinis were not the most suitable of replacements.

  4. Just think how well you feel when you’ve completed this course, and how much of a change your body and mind will feel better, Your Doing Good, and your body is thanking you. That’s one thing that Gov. Christie wont be doing……either thanking you or doing any of these excercises. Just picture that! Love the photo also.
