One of the Things I Hate About Summer

I love going to the beach, and we’ve been to many lovely beaches throughout the Caribbean. In fact, we live “down the street” from a beach which I don’t often go to for personal reasons. Instead, I prefer to go over the bridge just a few miles away where the beach goers aren’t as many. What I do not like about the beach is that I have to pay to park: $.25 for 15 minutes or $1.00/hour. (Every 4 hours you must put more quarters in.) So I have to pay $25.oo for an annual beach tag and then $8.00 every day to park–this adds up! If the city were to provide bathrooms and showers (like Florida), one wouldn’t mind the expense, but there are only several (4) along Β 8 miles of coastline. When the fine arts league ran a theme Everything Ocean City–I had to paint and enter this picture!

  1. Pity that this happens. I have been to beaches that charged a lot more and offered not much but a sandy spot for your behind… πŸ™‚ I like the painting.

  2. Such a lovely painting…and I agree with the thought behind it. I frequently find myself aggravated by having to pay to enjoy nature…parks, rivers, lakes, beaches. The list goes on.

    Great work πŸ™‚

  3. Well done. πŸ™‚

The only time I’ve seen a parking meter that I could appreciate was at a mall where the money in the meters goes to charity and putting money in them is voluntary.
