Allium giganteum Making An Appearance
Last year, my alliums, all twenty of them, did not make their appearance in the spring. I knew that the absence of the leaves meant no distinguishing globes of purple as an impressive focal point in early summer when other perennials are just starting to push through. What a disappointment! I enjoy watching people sidling up (tiptoeing onto my lawn as though tiptoeing would excuse them for trespassing) to inspect the unusual blossoms.
But this year they are looking very healthy, and I hope to get some nice photos of them with under plantings of red tulips. And, you know, I don’t mind the occasional trespasser when I know they are admiring my garden. It makes me smile.
