Bring Out the Holly

It’s fun decorating for the holidays. I used to play Christmas CDs and sing while I was decorating but not so much anymore. We have an enormous holly tree out front–it’s probably been around since the house was built in 1948. Oh, and it never disappoints with the abundance of berries it produces every year. We are delighted with the heavily laden branches every winter–the birds and I. To me decorating is just an enjoyment I get during the holidays like the parties, all the sparkle, the music, the smell of fresh-baked cookies, the Christmas memories . . . the snow. The gifts? Nah. When you think about all the issues presently facing our country  perhaps all we need is a little Christmas, a little holly, a little music, a little laughter–right this very minute.

Quote of the Day for YOU:

Into my heart’s treasury
I slipped a coin
That time cannot take
Nor a thief purloin, —

Oh better than the minting
Of a gold-crowned king
Is the safe-kept memory
Of a lovely thing.                                               ~Sara Teasdale
